About Your Consultant
I’m so glad you’re here.
My name is Riley Clatterbuck. I started this business/ministry as a way to provide assistance to leaders in churches and other Christian organizations as they are rooting out harmful theology from their ministries—namely, teachings from the Word of Faith and New Apostolic Reformation movements. How I got here is a long story:
When I was 7, I discovered my calling—worship leading. I spent the next 13 years learning everything I could about it—serving on multiple worship teams, taking lessons for various instruments, and learning to write worship music. During that time, I came on staff at a megachurch (my childhood church) as a youth worship leader, which was a dream come true and a culmination of a lot of hard work and dedication to the Lord and His calling on my life.
While employed at this church, I learned about two false-teaching movements that have gone widely undetected in the Church for decades: Word of Faith, and the New Apostolic Reformation. I was grieved to find out that the worship artists that I not only listened to, but led their songs every week in services, were a part of these movements. I then felt led to begin removing artists like Bethel, Hillsong, and Elevation from my song list for Wednesday nights with my 6th-12th graders.
However, the church I worked for was not open to changing their position on using these artists and supporting their false teachings. This sparked almost seven months of spiritual abuse under my boss and leadership above him. I eventually left, completely shattered, but comforted by the Truth of God’s Word.
When I left my dream job, I was 6 months away from completing my Bachelor’s in ministry at the University of Northwestern — St. Paul. In place of an internship, I completed a directed study on spiritual abuse in the Church, where I created a Biblically- and scientifically-based manual for Christian organizations to use to identify and properly handle accusations of spiritual abuse, as well as hopefully prevent the abuse from happening in the first place. I finished my degree with fresh motivation for encouraging Biblical literacy in the Church, as well as advocacy for spiritual abuse education and awareness.
Spirit and Truth Consulting, LLC is evidence of God using my pain for His glory. It is the culmination of countless hours seeking answers for my questions, prayers, and wounds. What I possess is not secret knowledge, but knowledge that is hidden in plain sight. I hope to provide not only information, but partnership and encouragement as strong Church leaders in all capacities work to protect their flocks from wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Soli Deo Gloria!
